Steiner Budget — terms of service
Last updated: 7 November 2026. These are the complete terms between you and Steiner Developers, L.L.C. for Steiner Budget. We wrote them the way we’d want to read them: short sentences, no buried surprises, and every clause in the place you’d expect to find it.
1. What you’re getting
A free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Steiner Budget on devices you control, for as long as you like. If we ever end distribution, copies you already installed keep working — the app has no server it could switch you off from. (That part is structural, not a promise.)
2. What the app is — and honestly is not
Steiner Budget is a budgeting tool. It organizes numbers you give it and drafts figures from scans it may misread. It is not financial, tax, legal, or accounting advice, and its totals, categories, and scanned values come with no warranty of accuracy — verify anything that moves money. We build deliberately toward honesty over confidence: when the app can’t read something, it says so. Sometimes even that is wrong, because software.
3. Your data is yours; the app is ours
Everything you enter or import — transactions, budgets, photos, backups — is your data and stays yours; we claim no license to it (we never receive it; see the privacy policy). The app itself, its design, and its code are ours. Both sentences are equally true.
4. The Pro unlock
- One-time purchase, tied to the Google Play account that bought it, covering the Pro features on that account’s installs.
- Pro only ever adds. Features that are free when you buy stay free forever. If we add Pro features later, your unlock covers them.
- Refunds follow Google Play’s policy (including its statutory windows); if you’re unsatisfied for a real reason, mail us — we’d rather refund than argue.
- Consumer-law note (EU/UK): by purchasing the digital content, you expressly consent that delivery begins immediately and acknowledge you thereby lose your 14-day withdrawal right once delivery has begun — but the refund offer above stands on top of whatever the law requires.
5. Beta versions
Pre-release builds are offered “as is”, may contain bugs up to and including loss of data created within them, and may change or disappear between versions. Keep your own backups while testing (the app makes this easy: export early, export often). Feedback sent to us is voluntary; we may use it to improve the product, and we don’t attach your name to anything without asking.
6. Disclaimers & liability, the honest paragraph
To the maximum extent the law allows: the app is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind; we aren’t liable for incidental or consequential losses — including lost profits or lost records — beyond the amount you paid us for the product; and nothing here excludes liability that applicable law says cannot be excluded (consumer protections included — they win).
7. Ending this
You can end it by deleting the app; we can end the license only by stopping distribution, which doesn’t touch installed copies. No accounts exist, so there is nothing to suspend. We hold nothing, so “data deletion requests” are answered by the uninstall button.
8. Changes, law, contact
Material changes to these terms get a date change on this page and, where we can reach you (you’re in a beta list), a heads-up by mail. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, U.S.A., without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections where you live. Questions, complaints, refund requests: hello@steinerdevelopers.dev — a human reads everything.
