Steiner Developers

Apps that work for you. Not for advertisers.

We build useful, privacy-focused software — practical tools for everyday life, engineered from the first line so that your data stays yours.

  • Zero trackers or ads
  • Local-first by default
  • Zero JavaScript on this site
Your privacy is more important than our profit. — the rule every Steiner product is built under

Our ground rules

Privacy isn’t a feature we add at the end — it’s the constraint every design decision has to pass through. These six rules apply to everything we ship.

Local-first by default

Apps run on your device and work offline. Cloud sync is there when it genuinely helps you — never as a reason to collect you.

Only the data a feature needs

We collect nothing beyond what a feature requires to run — and most features require very little. No accounts where accounts are optional.

No trackers, no ads, no resale

The product is the software — never your attention or your habits. Our revenue comes from you, not from selling you.

Encryption where it counts

Anything that does leave your device is encrypted end-to-end by default — not offered as an option buried four menus deep.

No lock-in, no dark patterns

Full export in open formats, settings that say what they mean, and a delete button that actually deletes.

Maintained for real

Plain-language privacy pages, a human inbox, and updates that never break the things you depend on.

Software for everyday life — minus the surveillance

Most tools in the categories we work in are funded by watching their users. Ours are funded by being good. Three areas we build in:

Personal & household

Budgets, recipes, routines — tools that touch real life shouldn’t report it back to a dashboard.

Home & media

Libraries, sharing, and devices in your home, run by software that lives in your home.

Custom builds for teams

Bespoke apps for businesses that want privacy as a feature — designed in from the architecture up, not bolted on before launch.

Steiner Budget

Private beta opening soon

Budget by hand, keep every receipt — your data never leaves your phone. Quick-add capture, receipt scans, bills, goals, and reports, plus a one-time Pro unlock that only ever adds. Private beta opening soon — ask for a slot; on Google Play this December.

Steiner Vault

In development

Every paper and belonging in your home — on your phone, never the cloud. Documents, warranties, and a room-by-room inventory that exports an insurance claims folder in seconds. The free app ships without network permission at all. Arriving spring 2027.

Our approach

Small studio. Serious craft.

The way we work is part of the product.

01

Start from the real problem

Before any code, we find the actual friction in your day. Software should remove friction, not create dependencies.

02

Design with minimum data

We decide the least amount of data that can deliver the value — then make the app work on nothing more.

03

Build small, ship fast

Short cycles, small scope, and a daily dogfood: we use every app ourselves long before anyone else has to.

04

Maintain what we ship

No abandoned products. Offline keeps working, and privacy commitments never regress in a later version.

“Useful” and “private” are sold to us as a trade-off. We think that trade-off is a business model — not a law of physics. — Steiner Developers

Let’s build something that respects you.

An app idea, a product that deserves a privacy-minded rebuild, or a business that wants software with integrity — we’d like to hear about it.

Every message reaches a human. We answer all of them.
